Dr. Michele

Michel Gagnon, BS, DC, MS

I am Dr. G., co-owner of State of the Heart Wellness, where I provide guidance as a clinical nutritionist and am a state-appointed doctor for workman’s compensation claims. I am a proud member of the Institute of Functional Medicine and the California Chiropractic Association. In addition to providing my services at State of the Heart Wellness, I am glad to serve the community as a guest lecturer for the County of Santa Clara Social Services Agency, California State Parks and several area hospitals. I also am available for lectures at private corporate events and frequently speak for companies such as for AT&T and Orchard Supply Hardware.

I earned my Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Science in anatomy from Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas (where I was lucky enough to meet Dr. Tina).

What inspired Dr. Michel to become a chiropractor?

As a ‘tween and then a teenager, I was a long distance competitive swimmer in great physical shape. However, when I was 14 years old, I began having severe chest pain. For the next several weeks, my parents took me to many doctors in our search to find out what was wrong. One medical doctor finally decided that I probably had heart issues, which my parents and I found hard to believe. Thankfully, one of my friends had a father who was a chiropractor, a branch of medicine that was new to me. At this point, I was willing to investigate it if it meant I could possibly find answers and alleviate the pain. That chiropractor said my chest pains were coming from a mid-back misalignment, probably caused from moving incorrectly while swimming. Remarkably, after living like a disabled person for weeks, I had my first chiropractic adjustment and experienced great relief. I returned for two more chiropractic treatments, and, within 10 days, I resumed competitive swimming and my normal life. I never forgot that it was chiropractic treatment that gave me back my pain-free life.
